This 8,000-square-foot, Adirondack inspired residence has been meticulously designed to seamlessly harmonize with its picturesque lakeside surroundings.
The residence unfolds as a carefully composed arrangement of interconnected volumes following the curves of the shoreline. Within the post and beam structure, the primary living spaces establish a tasteful connection between the built environment and the nature that surrounds it. The front entry leads into a cathedral family room featuring arching trusses and expansive windows framing serene views of the lake.
In response to the unique topography and a desire for proximity to the waterfront, the lower level houses the kitchen, porch, living room, study, dining and master bedroom. Here, 11-foot-high wood plank ceilings create a warm atmosphere complemented by stone chimneys, walnut cabinets, and white oak flooring. Thoughtfully curated furnishings, including a “live-edge” dining table, leather chairs and modern glass pendant lights, add a touch of rustic charm and contemporary flair. Each room on the lower level has access to an interconnected series of terraces and planted spaces for quiet reflection or lakeside entertainment.
Distinctive “connectors” serve both practical and aesthetic purposes. On the upper level, a built-in bar and sitting area define these spaces with a refined aesthetic. Meanwhile, the lower level connectors accommodate a breakfast bar, powder room, and an intimate daybed nook, creating unique and inviting spaces for family and friends to gather and enjoy.
This house was also designed to be environmentally responsible. Sustainable initiatives such as geo-thermal heat, solar panels, super insulated walls and roof, along with locally sourced materials, create an eco-friendly home that doesn’t just offer a comfortable living space but also minimizes its impact on the environment, showcasing a harmonious blend of modern living and sustainable practices.
